My background includes over 10 years of designing and building multi-tier
server side applications using Java-based technologies, relational
databases, and a number of open-source frameworks. During my professional
career I have been involved in many aspects of the software development
life cycle, from requirements analysis and documentation, architecture and
design, data modeling, to development and testing. I am an advocate for
agile methodologies, applying design patterns and best practices, the use
of open source technologies, and writing robust, clean code, with a strong
emphasis on unit testing.
In my role as a consultant, I am constantly exposed to new technologies
and methodologies, and must adapt to learning and producing very quickly
as well as be in a position to mentor others. I am often called upon to
produce significant amounts of documentation, including design documents,
diagrams, and slide presentations. I have taught formally on the college
level, in technical and non-technical subjects, and in my professional
career I have had many opportunities to present to audiences on various
topics related to enterprise Java development. I prefer roles on highly
collaborative teams in which I am able to draw from many aspects of my
experience, and that challenge me to continue learning.
