These are web resources on topics that I am interested in and regularly visit. If you find any broken links or feel something is missing, please let me know.

Photography
Resources for this very addictive and expensive hobby of mine!
  • Canon Digital Photography Forums - I spend way too much time on this forum! If you shoot Canon, this is the place to learn and share info.
  • Nature Photographers Network - Site for learning about nature photography.
  • Pbase.com - This is where I host my online photo gallery.
Birds
Sites I use for information about birdwatching, feeding, etc.
  • Cornell Bird Guide - Quick way to look up various birds species.
  • Minnesota Birding Network - A message list reporting sightings and birding info in Minnesota.
  • Minnesota Ornithologists Union - Website with a lot of information about birding statewide.
  • Sialis - Everything you ever wanted to know about bluebirds (Sialia sialis), with an emphasis on nesting and protecting bluebirds and other native cavity nesters. If you don't know what HOSP stands for, you need to visit this site!
  • Bald Eagle Watching on the Mississippi River - Info from the Rock Island District of the Army Corps of Engineers, including weekly bald eagle counts from the locks and dams.
Music
  • Gregorian Singers - Semi-professional choir I sang with for 4 seasons.
  • Bloomington Medalist Concert Band - Top-rated community concert band I belonged to for two years.
  • Cor Musica - Iowa-City based quintet I sang with when I lived there
  • Georgia Redcoat Marching Band - Nothing finer in the land!
  • Choral Public Domain Library - Free choral scores. Some editions are quite good, others questionable. Your mileage may vary.
  • Digial Image Archive of Medieval Music - Online collection of manuscripts from 800-1500, some of which can't be found anywhere else (for example, the Eton Choirbook.)
  • Old Manuscripts and Incunabula - Large collection of facsimile editions available for purchase. I've bought a number of items from them.
Health & Fitness
Resources for health and fitness that I've found useful.
  • Women's Weight Training - Very well-written and informative site for women interested in strength training. Debunks all the myths and teaches you how to do it right. And no, you won't bulk up!
  • New Rules of Lifting for Women - Forum for discussion of the book and its topics.
  • Starting Strength - Learn how to perform the 5 basic barbell lifts. I have both the book and the DVD.
  • CrossFit MSP - This is where I work out three times a week.
  • Lifetime Fitness - I'm still a member, because of the convenience factor.
  • Get In Gear Run - I don't consider myself a long distance runner, but I signed up for the 5k as a goal for myself. UPDATE - I ran it in 29:30 (my goal was under 30 minutes). It was snowing!!
Sports & Outdoors
Organizations, teams I follow or play on, etc.
  • Minnesota Rovers - Outdoors club based in Minnesota, with trips and activities locally and elsewhere.
  • Northern Lights Women's Softball League - I played in this league during for a couple of years in the summer and fall leagues, until I got tired of playing on weekends.
  • Atlanta Braves - I'm still a Braves fan.
  • UGA Athletics - Once a Dawg, always a Dawg!
Food
Healthy foods I like.
  • Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt - Great-tasting yogurt with no high-fructose corn syrup. After eating this I can't go back to regular yogurt. My favorite flavor is blueberry.
  • Cedar Summit Farm Milk - Organic, unhomogenized, and made from grass fed cows. Farm is located just south of the Twin Cities.
  • Thousand Hills Catle Company - 100% grass fed beef. Farm is located about an hour south of the Twin Cities.
  • Pacific Organic Almond Milk - I make smoothies with this. Quick recipe: 8oz almond milk, 2oz each of frozen strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, 2oz orange juice. Add 2tbsp flax seed for extra fiber, a scoop whey powder (vanilla or berry) for extra protein. Blend thoroughly in a blender (no ice needed.) I drink one of these almost every morning as a pre-workout meal. Very good for you and it really tastes great!
  • Jay Robb Whey Protein - High quality whey protein isolate, made from grass fed cows not treated with hormones. I mix the chocolate flavor with milk for a post-workout shake.
